As we continue our journey toward preparing every Diamond Oaks student to be NextReady, I’ve been reflecting on one of the pillars that truly shapes future success: Accountability.

Accountable individuals take ownership of their decisions, follow through on their promises, communicate openly, and consistently strive to do the right thing—even when no one is watching. These are the same qualities that employers tell us they value most in the workplace, and they are exactly what I’ve seen our students practicing every day.

Just this week, I visited several classrooms and witnessed students working in teams, offering one another thoughtful feedback, and taking responsibility for both their individual tasks and their group’s outcomes. Whether it was a lab project, a design challenge, or a hands‑on technical assignment, our students demonstrated maturity and professionalism that speaks volumes about their growth.

When students learn to hold themselves accountable, they strengthen not just their technical skills but their character. This is what makes them truly NextReady.

I’m proud of the efforts I see across our campus, and I’m excited to continue supporting our students as they build the habits that will carry them confidently into their futures.

Jacob Tremain, Auto Service Tech. Instructor:

Our Automotive Mechanic juniors have been learning how to perform basic brake system repairs. These tasks include performing disc brake service, drum brake service, brake line flaring, and disc refinishing. Moving forward, students will also learn how to bend brake lines, refinish drums, service parking brakes, and how to bleed brakes. Fred Kuntz has demonstrated a great work ethic, both in the lab and outside of the lab. Fred has been working at Joseph Buick GMC since the fall, and he also helps students who are struggling with various lab sheets.

Our Automotive Mechanic seniors have been working on learning the fundamentals of engine repair. This includes both replacing an engine and rebuilding an engine. Moving forward, students will begin performing various engine performance diagnostic tests on vehicles. These tests will include compression tests, leak down tests, fuel pressure tests, and oil pressure tests. We are also proud to share that 13 of our seniors are currently working in the automotive industry. Recently, Dylan Fritz placed 4th in the Maintenance and Light Repair Ohio Skills USA Southwest Regional contest. Dylan will be competing in the state competition in May.
