Matthew 25 Fieldtrip

Diamond Oaks students recently demonstrated what it means to be Next Ready during their field trip to Matthew 25 Ministries. Students volunteered their time sorting and organizing donated clothing and shoes, assembling hygiene and education kits, assisting with recycling and repackaging projects, and participating in an educational tour of the Global Village. Through hands-on service and teamwork, students gained valuable real-world experience while making a positive impact on communities in need around the world.

IT Academy Visits UC

Junior students from the Diamond Oaks Information Technology program visited the University of Cincinnati on Wednesday, October 28th. As part of the field trip, students got to learn more about the field of and careers in information technology, about the various ways the University of Cincinnati engages students in the UC Early IT program (which Diamond Oaks is a part of), heard from two student ambassadors who are freshmen in the Information Technology, Networking & Systems Administration program, had lunch in the On the Green dining hall, and got a guided campus tour. Students got to see what college life is like and got to learn more about how their learning in the Diamond Oaks Information Technology program can give them a head start in college. Students even got a chance to have a little fun, bringing home some UC swag and even getting to step onto the field at Nippert Stadium. One of the student ambassadors who spoke with the students was Diamond Oaks IT alumni, Elijah Snyder, who is a first-year UC student who already has a full year of his college education completed thanks to the Early IT program.

Important Reminders

Uniforms: as a reminder, students are expected to remain in uniform throughout the entire school day. At Diamond Oaks, we are preparing students for professional careers, and part of that preparation includes maintaining a professional appearance while adhering to workplace and safety expectations. Hoodies are not permitted on campus because they can create safety concerns in many of our career technical labs and do not align with professional dress standards. Homeschool spirit wear may be worn on Fridays only; however, some programs may require students to wear specific attire during lab activities to comply with safety protocols. We appreciate your support in helping students develop the professional habits and workplace readiness skills that will contribute to their future success.  Please see the attachment for more information.

Outside Food & Drink: just a reminder, due to federal guidelines, students are not permitted to bring in outside food or drink without permission. The only exception is packed lunches. All liquids need to be in personal thermoses.

Cellphones: students are not permitted to use cellphones except at lunch.  This is in accordance with state law.  Please see the attachment for more information.

In the Shop: Finishing Level 1 & Mastering the Basics

Our Junior Construction Lab students are reaching an exciting milestone as they wrap up their Level 1 curriculum! Over the past few weeks, students have been diving deep into foundational trade skills, covering crucial core modules including:

  • Construction & Shop Safety: Best practices, hazard recognition, and protective equipment standards.

  • Hand & Power Tools: Safe operation, proper maintenance, and precision usage.

  • Building Materials & Hardware: Selection, handling, and material properties.

  • Layout Tools: Measurement accuracy, marking, and layout techniques.

To put this theory into practice, students spent time on hands-on wood projects—crafting custom wooden toolboxes and birdhouses. These projects allowed them to apply precise layout measurements, practice cut execution, and get real-world experience using essential carpentry tools.

Student Spotlight: Cole Lang

A huge shoutout to Cole Lang, who has stood out as one of our top Junior students this term!

Cole consistently demonstrates what it takes to excel in the construction field. Beyond his strong technical skill set, Cole leads by example as an effective communicator and a true professional in the shop. Whether collaborating with peers on a build or ensuring safety protocols are met, his actions show high dedication and craftsmanship. Fantastic job, Cole!

On the Job & On the Rise: Seniors In the Field

Our Senior Construction Lab is making huge strides both in the field and in the shop!

We are proud to share that 12 of our senior students are currently placed in real-world construction jobs. These students are out on active worksites, earning a paycheck, building their industry networks, and receiving hands-on, on-the-job training from industry professionals. Watching our seniors transition directly into the workforce before graduation is a true testament to their hard work and preparation.

In the Shop: Small House Project Reaches New Heights

For our seniors training in the lab, progress on our full-scale small house build is moving fast! The crew is currently wrapping up framing the second story, bringing the structure's full frame to life.

With the second-story framing almost complete, the team is preparing for their next major technical milestones:

  • Stair Building: Designing, layout, and constructing stairs to access the second floor.

  • Exterior Envelope: Installing exterior windows, applying siding, and shingling the roof.

  • Interior Finishes: Drywall hanging and finishing, along with installing interior doors and decorative trim.

Senior Spotlight: Kayman Diesman

A special spotlight goes to senior Kayman Diesman, who is currently working in the field for Pepper Construction and doing an outstanding job!

Kayman is gaining valuable heavy construction experience and is currently working on-site at the local library
