Diamond Oaks Weekly Update
|
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of celebrating staff and students who exemplify the Skilled Professional and Effective Communicator pillars of NextReady. This week, I want to commend our entire Diamond community for demonstrating Adaptable Navigation.
When inclement weather and dangerous temperatures required Diamond to close and shift to remote learning, our staff and students rose to the challenge. Teachers delivered instruction and support through Zoom, while students actively participated and completed their work from the safety of their homes. Their willingness to adapt and continue teaching and learning under less-than-ideal conditions reflects the strength and commitment of our school community.
I am proud of Diamond’s staff and students for their resilience and dedication. Here’s hoping next week brings warmer temperatures and a return to smoother conditions for learning.

On Friday, January 23, 2026, Seniors and staff members from Diamond Oaks volunteered at Matthew 25 Ministries. Students gave of their time to help those in need and to complete their Ohio Means Jobs credential. Students worked in the warehouse doing a variety of tasks to help Matthew 25 in their mission to bring relief to those who experience natural disasters and those in need around the world. Students proved that they are truly NextReady leaders moving closer and closer to graduation.

Diamond Oaks Career Center offers a hands‑on Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) program that prepares high school students for in‑demand technical careers through real‑world lab work, industry‑aligned training, and opportunities to earn credentials. Juniors are currently studying for their EPA 608 licensure that allows them to enter the workforce as a helper/installer or become a journeyman. Students learn skills to change out residential and commercial HVAC units, furnaces, and water heaters.
Students that earn all or part of their credentials are eligible to participate in Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities 3-4 days a week. Most of the students earn an average of $18/hour, depending on the location and employer. To date, my seniors have logged over 9,000 WBL hours. Each senior has earned between 25-50 industry credentials (4 students earning 25-39 credentials and 18 students earning 49-50 credentials). In the junior class, I want to highlight Bradley Korn, who took the EPA 608 licensure test and successfully passed all 5 parts of the credentialling test in his first attempt. In my senior class, I want to recognize Skylar Tomlinson. Skylar has helped with sophomore visits and is always willing to work in the lab on a variety of projects to become better at his craft.
