11/20/2025 Diamond Oaks Weekly Update

Posted Date: 11/21/25 (7:00 PM)

Dear Diamond Oaks Families, Students, and Instructors:

As we step into the holiday season, it’s a perfect time to pause and reflect on what we’re thankful for. Thanksgiving reminds us to appreciate the opportunities we have and to recognize the challenges faced by our friends, neighbors, and families. Gratitude and empathy are at the heart of our community, and together we continue to support one another.

This week has been an exciting showcase of talent and learning at Diamond Oaks! Our students demonstrated their skills during sophomore visits, inspiring future learners with hands-on experiences in their labs. Vet Assisting students visited the SPCA on Tuesday to deepen their understanding of animal care. On Wednesday, Womankind explored the world of theater with a trip to the Shakespeare Company for Love’s Labour’s Lost, while CareerX partnered with St. Clair Construction Group for real-world insights. Additionally, our SkillsUSA representatives traveled to Columbus for the Fall Leadership Conference, representing Diamond Oaks with pride and professionalism.

We are grateful for the dedication and hard work of our students and staff, and we look forward to continuing this season of learning and growth together.

Career X Lab Focus: Career X is an entry-level transition high school program focused on career exploration and employability skill training for students with special needs. Students explore career options through work-related activities at school and in the community.  Students focus on career preparation and develop employability, social and life skills. Additionally, students learn and practice professional skills, learn how to use workplace technologies and practice culturally appropriate communication skills. Financial independence and personal wellness are also emphasized.

During the 1st quarter, Career X students worked through job/intern training at our community business partners, Ray St. Clair Roofing, Greater C Dental Lab and Reupert Heating and Air.  Students enjoy working with the staff at each site and are often treated to pizza or treats for their hard work!  Career X went on several community outings including Brown’s Farm Market, Kenwood Mall, McDonald’s and Scoopable.  It was inspiring to see adults with disabilities, staff and manage the ice cream making, selling, and even marketing at Scoopable.  We even got to make, serve, and eat the ice cream! Career X students also toured the Project Search locations to help them decide if Project Search will be a beneficial next step for them after Career X.   All Career X students are working to learn and demonstrate Next Ready professional skills and life skills to be more independent, successful adults.

Kind Regards,
