Hello Diamond Oaks Students and Families,

Podcast Meeting: Students, if you are interested in helping out with the Diamond Oaks Podcast, please attend the first Podcast meeting on Monday, 10/20, 9:30-10:30 AM, in Mr. Horton’s room.  Bring your creative ideas and talents.

Diamond Oaks Student Spiritwear: students have until 10/17 t0 order Diamond Oaks spiritwear.  Proceeds go to the Diamond Oaks student organization Womankind Scholarship Fund!  Please click on the following link to order: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddFMBcSgg0tVFUXgR5C8UNZSHce-UWbvY9tgEHY4EcdmzYpQ/viewform

Possible Blood Drive: blood banks are facing a critical shortage all across America.  Diamond Oaks is considering partnering with UC Howorth Blood Center to host a blood drive. Students, please complete the below survey to express interest if you are interested in donating blood: https://forms.gle/M3zGPoten6tP41Di8

Student Pickup in the Afternoon: Due to the increased number of students being picked up at dismissal, traffic issues have arisen, including busses not being able to pass through at the top of the loop.  The top of the loop near Entry 1 is for special transportation only.  Guardians are asked to find a marked parking space in the parking lot and your student will meet you.  We have a staff member stationed at the exit point to direct traffic.   Thank you for your help in this matter.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: parent-teacher conferences will be held on October 23, between the hours of 3:30 and 7:30 PM.  Conferences can be in-person or Zoom.  To schedule your appointment please go to https://pickatime.com/diamond.  For more information contact Ms. Hopkins at 513-612-7036 or hopkinsa@greatoaks.com.   The Conference Night Flyer, which contains instructions is attached to this post.

Diamond Oaks Spirit Week: Diamond will have its spirit week from 10/13 – 10/17.   All clothing must comply with the general dress code and be school appropriate.  The themes are as follows:

Monday – Pink Out for breast cancer awareness

Tuesday – White T-Shirt with a “white lie” on the front

Wednesday – Generations (seniors dress as senior citizens and juniors dress as

babies/toddlers)

Thursday – Throwback (dress from the past – 2000s, 70s, 80s, or 90s).

Friday – Dress Down Day (no leggings, ripped jeans, shorts, or PJs)

Needs Assessment: Student Services is in the process of conducting a "Needs Assessment" of our students. Students need to click the link below and complete this very short survey.  It should take around one minute to complete, and the responses will provide the counseling team with valuable insight on how we can better support the needs of students: https://forms.gle/nXBJW17wQwMihmyTA

Senior Ceremony & Gowns: this year Diamond Oaks’ Senior Ceremony will be on May 12, at NKU, with the ceremony starting at 4:00 PM.  As the date gets closer, more details will follow.   Seniors will be required to wear a graduation gown to senior ceremony.  Even if your student will not be participating in their homeschool graduation, he or she will still need to order a gown.  Graduate Services met with seniors today from Harrison, NCH, Oak Hills, St. Bernard, Taylor, Mason, and Norwood.  They will return on 10/28 to collect order forms.  Extra packets are in Student Services. Additionally online and phone ordering are available.  If there are issues with ordering gowns, please contact your student’s counselor.

Pictures: Student pictures will be taken at Diamond by Ritchie Photography on Monday, October 20th for juniors (8 AM – 12 PM), and Tuesday, October 21st for seniors (12 PM – 2:18 PM).  Students will be permitted to change out of uniform for pictures but will need to change back into uniform once their photographs are taken.  There will be no retakes or make-up days.  More details will be forthcoming.

Lab Focus (Auto Service Tech.): This week’s lab focus is on our Automotive Service Tech. program.  Mr. Tremain, the instructor, reports: our Automotive Mechanic juniors have been learning how to perform entry level tasks that would be involved in a position as a lube technician. These tasks include performing 27-point inspections, checking fluid levels, changing oil, rotating tires, finding service repair procedures, and changing air filters. This week we have also begun changing tires and balancing tires. All juniors have earned their OSHA-10 certification. As the semester progresses, students will begin working on steering and suspension systems. Cayden Watkins has demonstrated a great work ethic and desire to learn in the classroom. Cayden was the first student in the junior class to be hired by a local dealership.

Our Automotive Mechanic seniors have been working with our A-Tech set-board trainers since the start of the school year. These set-boards have allowed students to build and test various automotive circuits. Students have learned how to use digital multimeters to perform applied voltage, voltage drop, resistance, and amperage tests. The students use these skills to diagnose faults within the set-boards. As the semester progresses, students will begin to study wiring schematics and perform wiring repairs. All students have earned their OSHA-10 certification this year. We are also proud to share that seven of our seniors are currently on job placement at local dealerships. Cristian Mireles has demonstrated a tremendous understanding of electrical theory and diagnostics this quarter.

Thank you for reading and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
