From Dan Rush, Scarlet Oaks Dean of Instruction:
Blended A/B Schedule for Scarlet Oaks
(This letter was mailed to all families)
Great Oaks Career Campuses will open on August 17th with a split or A/B Schedule, for at least the first quarter, which ends on October 16th. Students on Schedule A will attend school on Monday and Thursday, and students on Schedule B will attend school on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday will be a remote learning day for all students where there will be scheduled zoom meetings for all classes. All other planned face-to-face activities prior to August 17th are cancelled.
First day of school for juniors AND seniors:
Group A – August 17, 2020
Group B – August 18, 2020
Our goal is to make sure that our students have as much Career Technical lab time as possible, yet keep them in a safe learning environment. In order to achieve maximum time in the Career Technical program, students will be in their lab setting for the entire school day. There will be designated time for lunch and support for their academic learning. We have worked to create Career Technical lab environments that allow for social distancing and students as well as staff will be required to wear masks while on campus to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Our academics will be a blended approach between an online class and the instructor’s own content. The courses will be monitored and graded by Great Oaks academic instructors. Students who may need extra support will be able to meet with academic teachers while they are on campus. Academic teachers will also meet with students through scheduled Zoom meetings when they are not on campus.
A detailed packet of information is being mailed home the week of July 27, 2020. It will have the designation of your student’s group (A or B) along with paperwork that will need to be returned to us as soon as possible in the provided envelope.
Our school year starts on Monday, August 17th and we are looking forward to seeing everyone. This will be an extraordinary year and we looking forward to working with you to make sure your student is safe and successful. I want to thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding as we all work to provide the best opportunity for success.
All of this information will also be on the Great Oaks website, www.greatoaks.com and I will email it to you as well. I will be updating you weekly with any new information or important reminders. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-612-5701.
