About me:
I have a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Miami University and a master's degree in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University. After grad school, I began working part-time at a small animal veterinary clinic called Paw Print Animal Hospital in Newtown and fell in love with the field. I returned to school to earn an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from University of Cincinnati at Blue Ash (called Raymond Walters College then). After receiving my vet tech license, I took a position in emergency medicine at the Cincinnati Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) Center on Kemper Road. After a few years in the ER, I transferred to the CARE Center's cardiology department where I worked for a little over a year, until the birth of my son. After taking a couple years off to be home with him, I helped open the new Veterinary Technology department at Miami-Jacobs Career College (MJCC) in Troy, Ohio. I served as the Program Director of the vet tech department at MJCC for seven years until accepting my current position with Great Oaks in 2016.

I have worked in the industry for 21 years and have taught for 11.

What I love about teaching is filling in the details for students who have always loved animals but lacked the scientific information to effectively care for them.

The best part of my classroom is the relationships with and between the students and with the animals.
