About me:

For as long as I can remember, I knew that I wanted to be a nurse.  When I had the opportunity to attend Laurel Oaks in the Health Tech program for my last two years of high school, I was eager to apply.  While a student I was able to earn my Nurse Aide Certification and got a job working as an STNA at the hospital in the Progressive Care Unit my senior year. Working at the hospital exposed me to many areas of nursing and the various departments. I met many wonderful professionals who helped me discover my niche and define my professional goals. When I graduated high school I was offered a job working full time in the Emergency Department as an ER tech. I loved the fast paced, exciting, and ever changing work. I continued to work as a ER tech while I completed nursing school. Upon graduation from the nursing program and passing my board exam I was offered a nursing position to continue to work in the ER. I worked in the emergency room for 6 years as an ER tech and 8 years as a nurse.

I am passionate about helping people and contributing positively to my community. My time as a student at Laurel Oaks helped me discover the many opportunities in health care, meet like minded individuals, and jump start my career. I am excited to give back to my students by sharing my experiences and professional skills to help them as they begin their professional journeys.

I have worked in emergency medicine for over 19 years. I was an ER technician for 6 years and a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department for  8 years. I have been teaching with Great Oaks for 6 years.

The best parts of my classroom are the students and watching them form bonds with one another and work together to do their best. We have a wide variety of guest speakers to come in to talk with students to inform them about the many opportunities in the health care field. We partner with Clinton Memorial Hospital, Fayette County Memorial Hospital, The Christ Hospital, and University of Cincinnati Hospital to provide job shadowing and clinical experiences for the students.
